Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 (ドラゴンボール ゼノバース2Doragon Bōru Zenobāsu 2) is a recent Dragon Ball game developed by Dimps for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and Microsoft Windows (via Steam). It is the sequel to the original Dragon Ball Xenoverse game.
Gameplay
As history is being attacked and altered by evil intruders, players will have to become Time Patrollers in order to protect the Past and the Future of the Dragon Ball world. New and powerful foes coming from Dragon Ball movies (such as Slug, Janemba, Cooler and Turles, with more to be revealed) will do their best to succeed in their wicked deeds. To fight them, Time Patrollers will gather in a huge new city that is 7 times bigger than “Toki Toki City” from the previous game, called “Conton City”.

Story
Timeline Placement
The events of Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 take place in Age 852, two years after the events of the first game and a year after Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 The Manga. As with Dragon Ball Xenoverse, Xenoverse 2 parts of the story take place in several altered timelines and eras due to the Time Breakers alterations to history.
In Age 780 of Future Trunks' timeline, a history change involving Future Android 16 and Mira leads Xeno Trunks reuniting with Future Gohan before his death. As a result, Future Gohan willingly goes off to his death having realized he will die, though understands that Xeno Trunks' presence means that his death will not be in vain and that his student will defeat the Androids. Xeno Trunks returns to his Age 852, though Chronoa allows his meeting with Gohan to remain as part of Trunks' timeline out of consideration for Xeno Trunks and Future Gohan.
The final battle against the Time Breakers takes place on Earth in Age ??? of an unknown timeline that was conquered and tyrannically ruled by Towa and Mira.
In the Unknown History Saga, Towa's Distorted Time Eggs cause a natural time distortion that causes an alteration to the altered timeline of Age 780 of Trunks' timeline, as a result of Xeno Trunks' desire to save his master. As a result, Xeno Trunks chooses to defy the Supreme Kai of Time and joins his master in fighting the Androids. Fearing for his student's safety, Future Gohan is able to tap into some of his hidden power, allowing him to overcome the Androids with Xeno Trunks' assistance. This creates a new timeline were Future Gohan survived and Xeno Trunks chooses to remain with him and his younger self to defend it from future threats such as Future Cell, Future Majin Buu, and Future Dabura. The fate of this altered timeline is left unclear.

Reception
Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 has shipped 1.4 million copies worldwide. As of November 27, 2016, the PS4 version has sold 87,105 copies in Japan. By November 2017 the game had gone on to ship 3.3 million copies worldwide.[5] Sales of the Nintendo Switch version hit 500,000 copies sold by January, 2018.[6]
IGN awarded it a score of 7.5 out of 10, saying 'Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 is an ambitious, if rough-edged experience, with deceptively deep RPG and brawling elements.' Hardcore Gamer awarded it 3 out of 5, calling 'a minimal improvement over its predecessor while sharing a lot of the same issues, but there’s just something so endearing about how it all came together.'
Heidi Kemps of GameSpot awarded the game a 7 out of 10, praising the combat and fan service while criticizing the combat for being repetitive and the missions with a non-combat focus as 'generally poor'. Kyle Hilliard of Game Informer also awarded it a 7 out of 10, praising the addition of Conton City but criticized the combat system for being almost identical to the first Xenoverse game and the soundtrack as 'consistently awful'.
